Last Friday, CLA President Britt Dinis, CEO Travis Grant, and CLA lobbyist Wes Skiles, gathered with legislators and agriculture industry partners for the Colorado State Fair Legislative Roundtable and BBQ. With a full tent of attendees, it was a great opportunity to connect, celebrate, and recognize the importance of Colorado agriculture.

The Colorado Livestock Association has been a longtime sponsor of the livestock exhibitors at the Colorado State Fair. As part of CLA’s continued support, CLA President Britt Dinis and CEO Travis Grant presented the Premier Exhibitor awards, sponsored by CLA, at the Junior Livestock Sale on Tuesday.

CLA also sponsored trophies for the Grand Champion Market Beef, Market Lamb, and Junior Dairy Champion Showman, as well as the Grand Champion Market Beef Belt Buckle. These awards were presented during the shows throughout the weekend.

Congratulations to all the state fair exhibitors and their families for their hard work and dedication!

The Colorado Livestock Association is grateful to American AgCredit for its generous $5,000 donation to support Colorado livestock producers affected by the Aspen Acres wildfire.

As CLA President Britt Dinis shared, “American AgCredit’s generosity demonstrates the strength of partnership within Colorado agriculture. When we come together to support producers, we help them recover while strengthening the agricultural community as a whole.”

These funds will help producers offset critical recovery costs, including fencing, pens, agricultural structure repairs, feed and other necessary expenses.

“The Colorado Livestock Association and the Colorado Cattlemen's Association are joining together to oppose the proposed changes.
In a joint statement, the groups said the administration has consistently expressed a desire to grow the U.S. cattle herd, but with cattle numbers at a 75-year low, they said the policy could have the opposite effect.
Both groups said they support a free-market environment and recognize the importance of a strong import and export market. But they said Colorado producers need stability and clarity as they make livestock marketing decisions.
“Despite drought and natural disasters, they continue to produce high-quality beef products, which is driving strong consumer demand,” the associations said in their statement. They added that uncertainty surrounding the markets and a lack of clarity on tariff policies are deepening concerns among producers.“

Ranchers in Colorado plead for the Trump administration to reverse the decision to import beef in an effort to lower prices in grocery stores.

The President and his administration have consistently espoused their desire to promote growth in the United States cattle herd; with cattle numbers at a 75-year low, this announcement is likely to have the opposite effect.
