If you experienced any damages or losses in relation to the storm last night, you can file claims on the State Farm app, by calling 800-732-5246, or will be available at 9am tomorrow to help in person or over the phone.

We live in an area where severe weather and the possibility of tornadoes are common enough that, sometimes, we become a little complacent. Last night was a reminder of just how quickly things can change. At one point, the radar appeared to show a storm with rotation that could have headed directly toward our community.

This week, we encourage everyone to review their severe weather plan.

Where will you go when a warning is issued?

Do you have a weather radio?

Do you have flashlights with fresh batteries?

Is your emergency go-bag ready?

Do you have a plan for your pets?

Do you know to seek shelter on the lowest floor and in the most central part of a structure?

Do you know to put as many walls as possible between yourself and the outside?

Have you rehearsed your plan with your family?

Does everyone know what to grab and where to go?

When severe weather strikes, there is often very little time to think. The best time to make decisions is before the storm arrives.

Practice. Rehearse. Plan.

A few minutes of preparation today can make all the difference tomorrow. Stay weather aware, stay safe, and take care of one another.
