On March 4, 1935, the bank opened its doors for business to the residents of Augusta and the surrounding area. On the first day of business the bank received an avalanche of deposits totaling $120, 653.75, and at the end of day, the Bank had $150,653.75 in assets. The second day proved to be a bonus as another $11,000.00 was deposited. The officials of The Bank of Augusta in the Depression days of
1935 were pleased with the strong showing of trust by area residents. Although renovations have occurred, the bank has remained in the same location since it opened its doors in 1935. As the need for most office space became apparent, the bank was enlarged with the acquisition of two adjacent buildings. However, customers are still greeted at the same solid white marble counter that has welcomed them for three quarters of a century. In 1996, the bank opened its in-store branch location. The branch provides our customers with convenient financial services and access to their accounts with the use of the bank's first automated teller machine (ATM). For 75 years, The Bank of Augusta has kept the trust of Woodruff County patrons by continuing to offer quality banking services. There has been a continued effort to mix old-fashioned principles of quality and tradition with the latest in financial proficiency and knowledge. From 1935 until the present, customers are served by capable employees who manage each account with the finest of skill and the most up-to-date banking technology. As we celebrate 75 years of banking business, the directors, officers, and staff of The Bank of Augusta offer our sincere gratitude to our loyal customers and friends. We look forward to serving you for many years to come.
