✨ Then & Now ✨

The year was 2000. I was 39 years old, venturing off to start my own company. I still remember snapping that photo in my new office—feeling scared and brave all at once. I laughed at how much I loved the office furniture, especially that glass-door bookshelf (lol). In that moment, it felt like everything.

I became President of PRP Insurance and the first female elected to the President’s Council of a Fortune 500 insurance company. Back then, those titles and achievements defined me. They were proof I could climb, belong, succeed.

Fast forward to today—63. I no longer sit on any council. In fact, I no longer chase anything at all.

The years have changed. My looks have changed. Yet one thing remains the same…
I am still here for you, I just don't wear suits anymore lol

The Emotion We Don’t Talk About in Retirement

🎉 “Congratulations, you’re retiring!”

That’s what everyone says. Smiles, cake, maybe a party. On the outside, it’s all celebration. But on the inside? Sometimes your hands are shaking.

Retirement isn’t just freedom — it’s a big change. Questions creep in:
Will my savings last?
What will I do with my time?
Who am I without the work I’ve done for decades?

These are the feelings we don’t always talk about. And that’s okay. Retirement is exciting, but it’s also emotional , and even a little scary.

At PRP Insurance, I’ve walked beside people through this season for years. My job isn’t just about policies , it’s about helping you feel steady when the ground shifts beneath you.

Then vs. Now in Insurance 🕰️

Back in the day, I would drive hours for a single appointment . hoping the client would be home and ready to sit down at the kitchen table. That was the way business was done. in 1995, Gosh, did I get age myself lol

Now? It’s so different.
✅ We can meet by phone.
✅ We can connect over Zoom.
✅ I can even set up an online enrollment for those who prefer to review at their own pace.

I’ll admit — it took me a little while to get used to this new way of working. But today, I love the flexibility. It means I can truly meet clients where it works best for them.

And whether it’s guiding someone through Medicare or helping young families find the right life insurance coverage, the heart of the work hasn’t changed: it’s about protecting people and giving them peace of mind.

The Annual Test That Keeps Me on My Toes ⏰

For 25 years, I’ve taken the same grueling exam, with some tricky new questions, the AHIP certification test! I do it to stay qualified to offer Medicare Advantage plans.

Here’s how it works:
I spend hours going through all the study material. Then… the clock starts ticking. ⏳ My heart races, palms sweat, and I’ve got just enough minutes to get a passing score. Every year it feels like a near heart attack! 💓

So why do I put myself through it? Not for fun. Not for bragging rights.
👉 I do it because you’re worth it.

Passing that test means you can trust me to bring you the most current, accurate, and compliant guidance when it comes to Medicare. And that’s worth every nerve-racking minute. Don't stress, that's may job lol. I got this and I got you too!

Back in 1995, that’s how I built my business — by cold calling for hours every day, hoping to connect with someone who needed insurance. It was a different time, and those calls were part of the job.

Some things change for the better. One of them is the Do Not Call rule, which protects your privacy and ensures that no one shows up in your living room uninvited to talk about Medicare or other products.

This book — The Next Conversation by Jefferson Fisher — is my current read, and it’s a powerful reminder that listening and talking are skills we can always improve.

We all want to be heard.
And that’s my job as your insurance agent: to truly hear you.

But listening is only half the equation. My role is also to ask the right questions — the kind that help me fully understand your needs, your concerns, and your goals.

Because insurance isn’t just about policies… it’s about people.
