Last night, we celebrated International Credit Union Day at Self-Help Credit Union’s West End branch in Atlanta! 💚

It was a meaningful evening of connection, reflection, and celebration as we discussed our Credit for the Westside research and what it reveals about the financial challenges and opportunities facing Atlanta's westside residents, while also celebrating two years of operations in Atlanta. We also invited everyone to reflect on this year's International Credit Union Day theme: "Cooperative Finance: A Steady Signal in a Noisy World."

We’re incredibly grateful to all the partners who joined us and to the many organizations and community members who have supported our work to help be a steady signal in Atlanta's westside. Thank you for being part of this journey!

As National Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, Self-Help Credit Union was proud to sponsor the Latin American Association - Asociación Latinoamericana's Coffee Hour last night, Celebrating Our Roots! 🇭🇳🇲🇽🇨🇴🇵🇷

Through delicious traditional foods, conversation, mingling, and dance, the evening celebrated the rich cultures and contributions of Hispanic Americans while creating opportunities for connection across our community.

At Self-Help, we believe strong communities are built when everyone has the opportunity to participate and prosper, and we’re honored to support organizations like the LAA that help make that vision a reality. ❤️

Self-Help's Atlanta staff were thrilled to join Community Restoration Project for their 2nd annual Bowling Fundraiser on Saturday, supporting their work to improve the lives of displaced families and communities in Atlanta. All the funds raised will go to help their rental assistance and utility assistance programs for local families.

We are also honored to partner on CRP's microloan program, which provides affordable small-dollar loans to families facing high-interest debt and unexpected costs. Since last summer, this program has served over 50 families!

Tap into something new! 💳✨

Starting October 1, Self-Help Credit Union credit cards will begin offering contactless tap-to-pay.

With a dual-interface card, you can:
• Tap to pay at participating merchants
• Insert your card when needed
• Enjoy a fast, convenient and secure way to pay

New contactless cards will be issued when your current Self-Help card is reissued due to expiration.

One important note: Self-Help ATMs are not yet enabled for contactless transactions. Until then, continue inserting your card when using our ATMs.

Look for the contactless symbol and get ready to tap! 👋

Last week, Self-Help’s Atlanta team was excited to welcome senior residents of Integral’s Ashley Auburn Pointe community in Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn neighborhood to our West End Branch to join the credit union!

We’re grateful to partner with Integral to expand access to financial education and affordable banking services for their residents—especially seniors, for whom having trusted, accessible financial services can be an important part of maintaining financial security and independence.

We loved spending time with Ashley Auburn Pointe residents and look forward to continuing to build relationships and connect more neighbors with the tools and resources they need to thrive. 💙

We’re honored to partner with Blueprint 58, a community-based organization rooted in Atlanta’s Pittsburgh neighborhood that empowers youth, equips young adults, and builds community through mentoring, job readiness, leadership development, and more.

Through this partnership, Self-Help Credit Union’s Atlanta team is supporting participants in Blueprint 58’s Ready4Work and Ready2Lead programs with financial education and credit-building—because developing the knowledge and tools to manage money, establish credit, and build financial stability is an important part of helping young adults turn educational and career opportunities into long-term economic mobility.
