Real estate is not a transaction. It is the exchange of one family’s story for the next and I have never forgotten that.
I was born in New York City, the daughter of Caribbean parents who came to this country to complete their academic career’s and build a life here from the ground up.
Where they come from, homeownership is simply the natural order. You build. Your family grows, the house grows with it. You pass it on. There is no question of whether you will own, only when.
Finding my place in an industry with a documented history of engineering barriers to prevent people who look like me from accessing that same birthright, I did not arrive to simply close deals.
I arrived as a steward of something far more meaningful.
This past weekend I showed homes. One was staged with an oversized sectional that disrupted the entire flow of the living space, making it impossible for my buyer to see past it. I gave the listing agent honest, specific, actionable feedback because I invite that same feedback on my own listings. It is the only way we serve our clients at the level they deserve.
Another home, in a community I know well and have sold in, was simply not ready to be shown. I gave feedback there too and I offered resources.
Because at the end of a successful transaction, everyone is compensated. I am invested in that outcome for all parties.
This is never criticism. Every time I offer feedback, I am offering a contribution something tangible you can bring back to your client to change the trajectory of your listing.
