Jim Rohn used to tell his audiences about two kinds of pain. One is the pain of discipline — the early mornings, the hard conversations, the daily grind of building something meaningful. The other is the pain of regret — that quiet ache of wondering what could have been.

Jim said the difference is weight. Discipline weighs ounces. You feel it in the moment, and then it’s done. Regret weighs tons. It follows you for years.

He watched people choose the lighter pain of discipline and build extraordinary lives. And he watched others avoid it, only to carry something far heavier.

Which pain are you choosing today?

"Life responds to deserve, not to need." — Jim Rohn

Some people hear this and think it sounds harsh. Jim Rohn meant it as the opposite.

If life responded to need, you'd have no control. But since it responds to deserve — to preparation and growth — the power is yours. Like a farmer who plants, tends, and waters. The harvest comes not from need, but from earned readiness.

That's not discouraging. That's freeing.

My friend, let me ask you something.

Have you ever thought about the difference between making a living and making a fortune?

Jim Rohn used to draw this line so clearly that it changed the way people looked at their entire career:

"Profits are better than wages. Wages make you a living; profits make you a fortune."

Now, there's nothing wrong with wages. They put food on the table. They keep the lights on. But wages have a ceiling. You trade an hour, you get paid for an hour. There's a cap built into the arrangement — your time runs out before your ambition does.

Profits work differently. Profits come from creating something that delivers value beyond the hours you put in. A business. A product. A service that works even while you sleep.

Jim knew this because he lived it. At 25, he was earning wages and barely surviving. Then his mentor Earl Shoaff asked him a question that changed everything: "Jim, what are you becoming?" Not what are you earning — what are you becoming?

This week, we're exploring Entrepreneurship — Jim's teachings on enterprise, value creation, and building something that lasts.

What would change in your life if you shifted your focus from wages to profits?
