There are people you work with, and then there are people who help shape your life.
For me, Angela Bauknecht is one of those people. I've been fortunate to know her for thirty-five years. Our journey began in 1991, and over the decades, we experienced nearly every season this industry can bring: changing markets, difficult challenges, incredible opportunities, and countless milestones.
Through it all, there was one constant: I always knew I could count on Angela.
When I began building what would become BankSouth Mortgage, there was no one I respected more or hoped would join me on that journey. I'll always be grateful that she did.
Together, we helped build something that will continue to serve families and develop leaders for generations to come. Angela's influence can be seen throughout BankSouth Mortgage in the operational excellence she helped create, the leaders she mentored, the people she encouraged, and the standards she refused to compromise on.
Over the years, Angela became far more than a trusted colleague. She became one of my closest advisors, an extraordinary partner, and a cherished friend.
Angela, as you begin this next chapter in retirement, thank you for your friendship, your wisdom, your loyalty, and the example you've set for all of us. I am a better leader because I've had the privilege of walking this journey alongside you.
Congratulations on an extraordinary career and an even greater legacy. Most of all, thank you for a friendship that has meant more to me than words can express.
