Today is Water Professionals Appreciation Day in Georgia, as we are truly thankful for the work that you do.

It takes a community of people to ensure that water keeps flowing. Each of you is an essential part of that community, whether you’re working at a desk, in a treatment facility, or out in the field. Most people simply expect that when they turn on the tap or flush the toilet, the water will be there for them. They may see a local river, stream, or creek and assume the water is safe without realizing the effort that goes into that assurance.

As water professionals, it often happens that our work goes unnoticed. On behalf of the public, let me express our gratitude! Your hard work allows the citizens of Georgia to enjoy the convenience of clean, safe water and efficiently treated wastewater without any concerns. Your dedication ensures that they can appreciate water and the environment without worrying about its safety. The contributions you make every day truly matter.

Thank you to each one of you for the vital role you play in protecting the citizens of Georgia!

Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates aims to help homeowners and tenants save on energy bills by offering incentives for energy-efficient upgrades. Last year, we launched Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates and have delivered more than $25 million in rebates to households statewide. More than 1,900 households have already benefitted, saving an average of $1,465 on annual energy costs, while making their homes more comfortable.

Much of this progress is a credit to our impressive contractor network, who work with our neighbors each and day to offer a wide range of incentives for energy-saving improvements.

As the program enters its second full year of operation, we are focused on expanding access and continuing to help households save energy and money.

The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority has marked the one-year anniversary of Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates, a statewide, residential incentive program, which has delivered more than $25 million in rebates to households across the state.

The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) is celebrating our 40th Anniversary this year. In April 1986, the board of directors of the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority—our original name—held its first meeting at the State Capitol and appointed Jerry Griffin as the executive director. In the past 40 years, GEFA has invested nearly $6 billion in energy, land, and water projects throughout Georgia.
