There has been a lot of talk about Insurance in the past year, the market is tough and all the FIRES aren't helping.
However, there are things that you can do as a consumer to protect your Home, Autos, Other Property in case something ever happens.
I know all those catchy TV commercials just push price, but what is cheap can be expensive if you don't have the right insurance or are not properly insured.
If you haven't reviewed all your insurance policies in the past couple of years, you should. Because as life changes so do our insurance needs.
As the cost of materials increase so does the Reconstruction Cost of our homes, so talk to your Insurance agent and make sure that your reconstruction cost is updated.
If you have put your home or any properties in a Trust, that needs to also be addressed with the insurance.
If you are no longer living in a house you own and are now renting it out then you need a Landlord Dwelling policy. Your Homeowners insurance isn't meant to cover tenants.
Do you have any high end jewelry or expensive wedding set of rings- 95% if home insurance has a sublimit of $5k max for Jewelry.
More than anything take some time to review your current insurance policies and understand your coverages.
