These photos popped up in my Snapchat memories today, and they took me back to a season of my life I’ll never forget.
This was my first year in the financial services industry. I was about six months into working as an insurance agent with Capital Choice—my very first opportunity in this business.
The truth is, I didn’t know what in the world I was doing.
I had recently lost my job and was trying to make something out of a license that my friends, Larry Gill and Patrick Lane, encouraged me to get. At 25 years old, I was broke, uncertain, frustrated, and trying to find my footing. I didn’t have a roadmap. I didn’t have all the answers. I was just taking one step at a time and praying that something would work.
What I couldn’t see then was that God was quietly writing a much bigger story.
That uncertain young man would go on to earn four securities licenses, obtain the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designation, help countless families navigate their financial futures, and now set his sights on earning a doctorate degree.
Looking back, I realize this journey was never about having everything figured out. It was about faith, perseverance, and God’s grace carrying me through seasons when I couldn’t see what was ahead.
I am truly a living testimony that your current circumstances do not determine your final destination.
A special thank you to Dion Coopwood for taking a chance on me, investing in me, training me, and setting an example of professionalism and excellence that still impacts me today.
If you’re in a season where you’re feeling lost, discouraged, or unsure of what’s next, keep going. The chapter you’re in now may be preparing you for a future you can’t even imagine.
Look at God.
