I was asked what is the hardest thing I’ve ever done years ago.

Years ago I would say:
being a single mother and raising a boy to a man by myself. ✅
Deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom when my son was 6 months old✅
Having 2 cervical spine surgeries and being paralyzed from the neck down, with a 3rd pending, all the while raising my son, by myself✅

I accomplished those tasks, and now my son is in his junior year of college, thriving.
If I’m asked now what’s the hardest thing, I’ll say:

After being retired since 2012, being a business owner and entrepreneur. Working my own schedule and going with the flow of how my God wants me to move..

Deciding to go back in the everyday workforce for the good of my son, his friends, my family, and the future of Black and Brown families is one of THE hardest I’ve really done.

I’m committed to the betterment of healing this generation and the next through financial literacy and combining that with the gifts my Creator bestowed upon upon me.

I AM the only Black woman advisor in my office, in one of the hardest fields for Black & Brown people. Finance.

It’s taboo to talk about financial status in most families. We don’t ask or know how much our friends and families salaries are. We don’t ask or talk about their budget. We don’t ask/talk about being in debt. We don’t ask/talk life insurances and how we’re going to make it up out “the mud”. But we will talk about everything else that is not beneficial to our foundational improvement.
