How many items are still on your year-end financial to-do list?

Our Year-End Planning Checklist is designed to help you identify areas that may deserve a closer look before the year comes to a close.

A few things to consider:

• Have you reviewed your realized and unrealized investment gains and losses?
• Are you maximizing retirement plan contributions?
• Should you analyze a Roth conversion?
• Have you taken any required minimum distributions?
• Does your portfolio need to be rebalanced?
• Have you reviewed your charitable giving plans?
• Have there been major changes in your family, career, or financial situation this year?

The checklist also covers taxes, investments, insurance, healthcare, important age-based milestones, family planning, and major life changes.

We had a great time at last night’s UGA SFPA meeting!🎓📈

Our President & CEO, Deanne Smith Rosso and Client Service Associate Joseph Hardeman—both proud FACS graduates—joined our Client Service Associate Aspen Townley to present and share their experiences with students interested in pursuing careers in financial planning.

It was especially meaningful for Deanne and Joseph to return to UGA and connect with the next generation of financial professionals while giving back to the program that helped shape their own careers.

We were also excited to be part of SFPA’s first collaborative meeting with ALPFA — the Association of Latino Professionals for America. Bringing students and organizations together creates opportunities to build relationships, expand professional networks, and make meaningful connections across the financial planning community. 🤝

Thank you to UGA SFPA for having us and to all of the students who joined us! We’re proud to support the next generation of financial planners and look forward to continuing to invest in the future of our profession.

The U.S. national debt has officially surpassed $40 trillion. But what does that actually mean for investors?

In his latest blog, Rob Fezekas, CFA, breaks down the growing national debt and explores what it could mean for interest rates, inflation, the U.S. dollar, and your investment portfolio.

Rather than focusing on the headline alone, Rob looks at the bigger picture—and the considerations investors should keep in mind as the debt continues to grow.

🍂 Fall Into Financial Literacy! 🍂

It’s the first day of fall, so let’s learn something new about money! How many of these financial basics do you know?

🍁 Roth vs. Traditional IRA?
With a Traditional IRA, you may receive a tax benefit when you contribute, but generally pay taxes when you withdraw the money. Roth IRA contributions are made with after-tax dollars, and qualified withdrawals are tax-free.
🍁 How does compound interest work?
It’s earning interest not only on your original money, but also on the interest it has already earned. Over time, that compounding can make a big difference.
🍁 What does your credit score measure?
It helps lenders assess how likely you are to repay borrowed money. Factors can include payment history, amounts owed, length of credit history, new credit, and credit mix.
🍁 Stock, bond, mutual fund, or ETF?
A stock represents ownership in a company. A bond is essentially a loan to a company or government. Mutual funds and ETFs pool money to invest in a collection of securities.
🍁 How are Social Security benefits calculated?
Your benefit is based largely on your earnings history—generally using your highest 35 years of earnings—and the age at which you claim can affect how much you receive.
🍁 What is an RMD?
A Required Minimum Distribution is the amount you generally must begin withdrawing annually from certain retirement accounts once you reach the applicable starting age.

Financial literacy starts with understanding the basics. Keep learning, keep asking questions, and keep growing your financial knowledge.

If there’s one thing our Customer Service Associate Aspen Townley loves, it’s a great adventure! Aspen is one of the most passionate travelers on the Elevate team and is always ready to explore somewhere new.

When we asked her to name her favorite places, Hilton Head took the top spot, followed by the Black Hills of South Dakota and Greenville, South Carolina.

And when it comes to her most memorable trips? Cabo, Lake Tahoe, and Bar Harbor are at the top of the list.

At Elevate, we believe there’s a lot to be said for making plans, creating memories, and enjoying the experiences that matter most to you. We love seeing where those adventures take our team!

Today, we celebrate grandparents—and all the love, wisdom, time, and support they give their families.

Grandparents already do so much. But those who are also thinking about ways to invest in their grandchildren’s futures? We think that makes them true rock stars.

That might look like:

🎓 Contributing to a 529 college savings plan
✈️ Gifting experiences and making memories together
📚 Helping with camps, lessons, or extracurricular activities
💰 Saving or investing for their future
❤️ Sharing financial wisdom and life lessons that can last a lifetime

The greatest gifts aren’t always the ones wrapped in a box.

Happy Grandparents Day to all the incredible grandparents in our Elevate community. Thank you for all you do!
