Generational planning isn’t just about what you leave behind—it’s about what you can give and experience during your lifetime. Thoughtful lifetime giving allows you to see the impact on your family while helping instill values and financial discipline across generations.

At the same time, planning ahead can help manage the tax burden your heirs may face—especially with rules like the IRA 10-year drawdown, which can significantly impact high-earning beneficiaries.

Are you truly measuring performance or just reviewing numbers in isolation? Without a relevant benchmark, it’s easy to miss how your investments are actually performing compared to the market, especially when many client-facing reports lack meaningful comparisons.

Take the next step: identify the benchmark that aligns with your strategy and start making more informed, confident decisions. Contact us today to ensure your portfolio is being measured the right way.

Two photos for the morning-- first is AI generated through our general AI tool with the prompt "create an image that embodies the current state of the United States economy". The second is a 25 year chart for the SPY and QQQ. Safe to say human intervention is still needed with AI and for the time being AI is not taking many jobs. After some follow up the tool admitted "If your goal was to reflect a data-balanced, mixed, or transitional economy, then it’s likely too extreme."

I would like to point out that in our field the stock market and economy can be synonymous however that is the industry conflating the stock market and the economy. There is a wide gap between those that have and those that do not-- and this brings me to the point of the post......

If you are one that "have" we encourage you to find a "have not" and providing a helping hand with time or resources.

With less than 2 weeks to the end of the calendar year we have had a few new prospective clients reach out with year end deadline needs. While we are here to help and have the capacity to onboard new clients-- there is only so much time with deadlines approaching.

If you are engaged with us-- luckily you are already taken care of. If you are not engaged with us and know you have year end needs I urge you to adopt the mentality of the great Happy Gilmore. There are 365 days until next years hockey tryouts (probably similar needs). Rather than finding yourself in the same spot next year call us and divert your path much like Happy did-- once switching to golf he did win the GOLD JACKET!

Warren Buffett once said, “diversification is protection against ignorance. It makes little sense if you know what you are doing.”

We do not believe Warren is truly against diversification but rather over-diversification. It is well known he recommended his wife leave 90% of her inheritance in a S&P 500 fund with the remaining 10% in short term government bonds. If the greatest investor of our lifetime does not recommend foreign markets why do most advisors?

With the exception of 2 individual foreign stocks we have not allocated to foreign markets since the financial crisis. Why? There has not been a compelling reason to invest in foreign markets, especially when most large companies in the US do business on a global basis.

Below is a 15 year chart comparing the Vanguard Total World Stock ETF vs Vanguard S&P 500 ETF. If you could go back in time how much of your portfolio would you allocate to a global strategy vs domestic?

Own companies you can understand that do business in markets you can understand.
