UGA Student Financial Planning Association We would like anyone interested in the financial industry participate in SFPA's learning, professional development, and networking opportunities.

See below for details on the 2020-2021 school-year! The Student Financial Planning Association (SFPA) welcomes all students, regardless of current major, who share an interest in financial planning. SFPA focuses on connecting students with employers and faculty, creating internship and job opportunities for members, and building a community of young professionals with an interest and passion for f

inancial planning. Our meetings typically feature financial planning firms wanting to share industry experience and provide opportunities for our membership. Additionally, we host socials and community outreach events to connect our members with each other! Tackling COVID-19: We’re taking a hybrid approach to meetings, meaning our meetings will be both online and in-person to accommodate those who cannot or may not be able to be present.

*Meeting times, dates, and location are subject to change in observance of COVID-19

Generally, our first meeting is held toward the beginning of September and serves as an orientation and overview of the year ahead. There will be a sign-in sheet distributed in person and through social media. The sign-in will serve to add you to our social media, GroupMe, and email list. Make sure to join us this Friday for our largest event!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our meeting with Equitable Advisors and OpenArc Corporate Advisory! We’re grateful to all the students who made time to attend, especially as we near the end of the semester.
A special thank you to all the firm representatives who joined us and for providing great insight on the financial planning field.
Equitable Advisors, a Sandy Springs based firm, explained how the financial planning profession found them and why they stuck with it. Firm representatives offered students a valuable look into how different roles and firm structures shape a planner’s day‑to‑day work. They also asked us students why we chose this career path and explained how important it is to enjoy one’s career!
OpenArc representatives also shared their stories of how they came about into their positions and creating their firm, as it is a new firm. Students also had the chance to participate in a Q&A, asking thoughtful questions about what career development looks like in their firm, current AI trends, and what qualities stand out in strong intern and full‑time applicants.
We appreciate everyone who attended and look forward to seeing you at our next and final meeting on April 21st!
