For the HR managers out there:

If any of this sounds familiar, your broker is making you do their job:

• Still using paper enrollment forms and scanning them.
• Manually entering new hire data into each carrier portal separately.
• Tracking enrollment in a spreadsheet.
• Calling your broker for basic adds, drops, and deduction questions.
• No integration between enrollment and payroll.

This costs HR managers roughly 20 hours per enrollment cycle. Time that should belong to you.

The portal is free. The Section 125 documentation is free. COBRA admin is free for groups with 20 or more enrolled. That's the baseline for what a full-service broker provides.

Think about health insurance like choosing a restaurant.

Fast food, casual dining, and a high-end steakhouse all serve food. Very different product. Very different experience. Very different price.

A cheap premium with a $9,200 out-of-pocket maximum isn't a deal. It's a plan that employees are afraid to use because one diagnosis turns into a financial emergency.

The question isn't 'is this cheap?' The question is, 'Is this a good value for what this group is paying?'

Sometimes paying $25 more per month knocks your deductible down by $1,000. For an employee who gets hurt or sick, that $1,000 is the difference between a manageable bill and a crisis.

That's what value means.
