🚨𝗙𝗥𝗔𝗨𝗗 𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗧: 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲! 🚨

We’re seeing an increase in a new type of debit card scam, and we want to make sure our customers know what to watch for.

Scammers are calling customers and 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸’𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. They may tell you there has been suspicious activity on your debit card and ask you to provide a 𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲 to “stop the fraud.”

𝗗𝗢𝗡’𝗧 𝗗𝗢 𝗜𝗧. ❌

The scammer may use that code to add your debit card to 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘆. Once added, they can use your card to make purchases in stores—using your money.

🔒 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿:
• Better Banks will 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗮 𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲 over the phone to stop fraud.
• Never share a verification code with someone who calls you unexpectedly.
• If you receive a suspicious call, 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 using the phone number on the back of your debit card or another trusted source.
• If you’ve already shared a one-time passcode, contact us immediately.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝘁, 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳. Taking an extra minute could save you from becoming a victim of fraud.

tomorrow morning, between 4:00am and 5:00am, the Quincy-to-Peoria St. Jude runners will be coming through town!

This is the 45th year of the St. Jude Run program, which has raised more than $94 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Come out and make some noise! A few cheers can go a long way for these incredible runners. ❤️
