Our Wahoo, NE, branch wrapped up this year's piggy bank contest as part of Teach Children to Save — and the excitement was real. Lily Grabowski took 1st place in her age group and won $25, while her siblings Charlotte and Ben each earned 2nd place and $15. The Grabowski kids have been entering the contest for three years, a tradition started by their grandma — or "Oma," as they called her. After a long battle with cancer, Oma recently passed away, and the grandchildren decided to carry on the tradition in her memory. It was a touching moment for all of us.
Also participating but not pictured: Oakleigh Badberg, 1st place in her age group ($25); Taytum Badberg, 2nd place ($15); and Rilynn Badberg, who received a special thank-you for participating and took home a First Interstate piggy bank.
First Interstate has been a proud partner of Teach Children to Save since 1997. Coordinated by the American Bankers Association Education Foundation, the program helps young people build lifelong savings habits through age-specific lessons led by trained bankers each spring.
