This week on Joey's Jargon where we define financial industry terms we will be discussing IULs.

IULs are Universal Life policies that are often referred to as "Super Roths" are complex but useful hybrid products that fill many needs. YES it is a life insurance policy but as a product it fills many needs. It can be used to accrue a sizable retirement without being burdened by the strict contribution limits of the Roth while still maintaining the benefits.

Western & Southern Life was included among the 90 insurance companies chosen by Forbes as the best in America. In the article titled, “America’s Best Insurance Companies,” published Sept. 29, 2021, Forbes notes that it partnered with Statista “to survey more than 16,000 customers” who provided recommendations for insurance products in several categories, “including auto, homeowners, renters, pet, dental and term and permanent life.” Respondents provided “feedback on insurance company performance across eight metrics including overall satisfaction and whether they would recommend them to family and friends.”

The insurance industry in the United States employs more than 2.8 million people across nearly 6,000 companies with net premiums written totaling $1.28 trillion in 2020 according to S&P Global Market Intelligence.

This day in history in 1990 : President De Klerk of South Africa lifts the 30-year ban on leading anti-apartheid group the African National Congress ( ANC ). He also stated the jailed ANC leader Nelson Mandela would be released. Nelson Mandela was officially released 9 days later on February 11, 1990 when he gave a speech that continues to inspire and guide all of us.
