"Some might say the housing market is in transition right now, as home buyers, sellers and even those who have never done either weigh the state of mortgage rates and inventory.
As the buds begin to pop on the trees this spring, a renewed sense of urgency emerges among prospective home sellers. Simultaneously, those renting the place they reside in appear to be less and less enthused about owning a home someday.
Home prices are ticking upwards in most U.S. metros, especially along the California coast. The South is seeing the least amount of price appreciation, with a surge in new listings. In fact, there are more homes for sale in New Orleans, Austin and San Antonio than there have been since covid-19 rocked the world. This is in part due to the increase in new construction, with homebuilders relieving the housing shortage.
As for what's to come in this ever-changing picture, a distant mirage of a coming home glimmers on the horizon."
