METRO was organized in 1973 by a committed group of resourceful people who wanted financial services at lower costs than those available at banks or savings institutions. When you join as a member, you have access to all METRO has to offer, including free and discounted financial services. All accounts are insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an a
gency of the Federal Government. METRO operates under the supervision of the NCUA and is audited each year by our Supervisory Committee and an approved CPA. As a member of METRO, you're not just another account number. You are an individual with unique financial needs, and we will keep your best interest in mind. That's one of the benefits of being a smaller financial institution: our staff will get to know you and help you achieve your goals utilizing our many products and services. Whenever you call or email our office, a friendly METRO Account Representative will assist you with your account and questions. We will never route you to a call center, or worse, to a different country. Not-For-Profit & Member Owned. METRO is a member owned non-profit cooperative. This means that we don't have to answer to private stockholders (like banks do). When METRO makes a profit, it's returned to you in the form of lower fees and better services! METRO's Board of Directors represents the membership base because they are elected from and by METRO members. The Board will always have the members' best interest because they are members too. The Board of Directors is responsible for determining policy, services, loan rates, and dividend rates. You, as a METRO member, can also be involved!
