Can you share a memorable experience helping a customer?
There is a lady that comes in every Friday morning and every interaction with her brings a smile to my face. She always makes us laugh and brings a little more joy to our day.

What is one thing people might not know about this job?
You see people more regularly than you would expect. Which offers more opportunity for connecting within the community.

What is your favorite part about working with customers?
I love helping our regulars who come in weekly! I enjoy continuing that relationship with them.

What’s the first thing you want a new customer to know about our team?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Even if we don’t know the answer, we will do our best to figure it out or connect you with a team member who can help you.

What is your go-to coffee/drink and/or snack?
My go to drink currently is an apple Spindrift. Apple things are my favorite!

If you could travel anywhere is the world tomorrow, where would you go?
I have dreamt of going to Maine for years! It is definitely my top choice!

Favorite book, Tv show, or Movie right now?
There are to many books to choose! My favorite Tv show is NCIS.

One fun fact about you that might surprise people.
I read almost 150 books in 2025!!

Can you share a memorable experience helping a customer?
A recent one includes helping a drive through customer rescue a tube that got stuck under their car. They were afraid to move the car and crush the tube, so I went outside and fished it out from beneath the vehicle. We both had a laugh. You never know what curve balls might come your way.

What is one thing people might not know about this job?
You meet and connect with so many people, forging relationships that go beyond just banking. I see regulars at the grocery store and out and about all the time, and we happily greet each other!

What is one piece of advice you’d give someone opening their first account?
Set some goals and try the round up option we have; it's fun to see how much you can save just in change.

What is your favorite part about working with customers?
I enjoy meeting all sorts of people and figuring out what we have in common.

What’s the first thing you want a new customer to know about our team?
Our branch in Newton is from the 1800s!

What is go-to coffee/drink and/or snack?
I drink black coffee I make at home, occasionally I make espresso drinks with my little espresso machine.

If you could travel anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?
I'd go to New Zealand.

Favorite book, TV Show or Movie right now?
The Green Knight and Northman are movies I really enjoy right now.

One fun fact about you that might surprise people.
I was a barista for almost 10 years, and I still love making coffee.

Time is running out! Union State Bank is still accepting applications for the 2026 Homeownership Set-aside Program (HSP), offering grants up to $15,000.00 for qualified, first-time homebuyers.

HSP grant funds may be used for down payment, closing cost and repair assistance to first-time homebuyers earning at or below 80% of the area median income for households purchasing or constructing homes in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

Can you share a memorable experience helping a customer?
We have a customer with a daughter that is allergic to anything strawberry. I remembered the next she came to the bank that she couldn’t have a strawberry sucker. Her mom was so moved that I remembered, she almost cried.

What is one thing people might not know about this job?
After a while, handling large amounts of cash becomes commonplace.

What is one piece of advice you’d give someone opening their first account?
Keep track of the balance in the account so you don’t overspend.

What is your favorite part about working with customers?
Getting to know different people.

What’s the first thing you want a new customer to know about our team?
We’re always ready to help our customers. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

What is go-to coffee/drink and/or snack?
Dr. Pepper and Cheez-Its

If you could travel anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?
I have always loved horses so I would like to tour the horse farms in Kentucky.
