🏠 Homeowners: Don’t Overlook Your Electrical Panel During an Inspection

When purchasing a home—or having your current home inspected—it’s important to have the electrical panel and breaker box checked by a qualified professional.

Insurance companies are becoming increasingly cautious about certain electrical panels and may decline to insure a home or require the panel to be replaced if a particular type is present.

One panel that can be a concern for insurance coverage is Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) Stab-Lok. These panels have been associated with safety concerns and may not be accepted by some insurance carriers.

⚡ Our recommendation: If you’re buying a home, refinancing, or simply want to make sure your home remains insurable, ask your home inspector to specifically identify the make and model of your electrical panel.

A little extra attention during an inspection can help you avoid unexpected insurance issues—or costly surprises—after you’ve purchased the home.

Oklahoma homeowners could qualify for up to $10,000 to upgrade their roofs before the next round of severe weather.

The Strengthen Oklahoma Homes program opens for applications Monday, July 13, at noon. Grants help homeowners install stronger, storm-resistant roofs that may also qualify for insurance discounts.

Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis as funding allows.
