A client stopped by my office today to talk about a friend.

She's nearing retirement age and recently came into some money. The challenge? She doesn't have much saved for retirement, so this money will need to provide security and support for the years ahead.

As he shared her story, I found myself getting excited.

Not because of the money itself, but because I could immediately see the opportunity to help. To create a plan. To bring some clarity to what probably feels overwhelming. To help someone move from uncertainty and worry to confidence and peace of mind.

This is what I love most about being a financial advisor.

People often think financial planning is about investments and numbers. Those things matter, of course. But at its heart, financial planning is about people. It's about helping someone feel more secure, more prepared, and more hopeful about their future.

What made today even more meaningful was that it came through a referral. When someone trusts me enough to recommend me to a friend, that's something I never take lightly.

Helping people navigate life's transitions and build a plan for what's next is truly one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

And honestly, I can't wait to meet her.

❤️ This is why I love my job.

My week is off to a wonderful start.

Over the weekend, I saw a photo of one of my clients on a local restaurant's social media page. She looked like she was having a great time, so I gave her a call and teased her a little about becoming a local celebrity.

What started as a fun conversation turned into something much more meaningful when she shared that her husband is back home after spending nearly a year in a nursing home.

A year.

She told me she never thought she would see this day come.

As financial advisors, we often talk about goals, plans, and numbers. But moments like these are a reminder that behind every financial plan is a real life, real challenges, and real victories worth celebrating.

❤️ Sometimes the best part of this job isn't the financial planning. It's getting to walk alongside people through life's hardest seasons and share in their happiest moments.

Managing wealth isn't just complex, it's deeply personal. That's why who you work with matters. At Edward Jones, every relationship starts with a personalized approach. We take the time to understand each client's unique goals, values and circumstances — delivering tailored strategies, not one-size-fits-all solutions.

I have this sign in my conference room that I love and this is why.

One of the reasons I love being a financial advisor is that, at its core, it's a teaching role.

Let's be honest—absolutely nobody starts investing knowing everything. Most people aren't taught how financial markets work, how to evaluate risk, or how to make confident financial decisions. That's okay.

My job isn't to expect clients to have all the answers. My job is to create an environment where questions are encouraged, curiosity is welcomed, and learning is part of the process.

I want my clients to understand not only what we're doing, but WHY we're doing it.

Why are we recommending this strategy?
Why are we investing this way?
Why are we staying the course when markets get uncomfortable?

The best financial planning relationships are partnerships. I don't work for you, and you don't work for me. We work together.

When clients understand the reasoning behind their financial plan, they feel more confident, more engaged, and more empowered to make decisions throughout their lives.

And honestly, those are my favorite conversations—the ones that start with, "Can you help me understand this?"

Because great questions often lead to great financial decisions.

During a recent conversation, a client shared that she had just eaten the last of the okra she and her late husband had grown together before he passed away.

Sometimes grief shows up in unexpected ways—not just on anniversaries or holidays, but in everyday moments.

As luck would have it, my own garden is producing more okra than my family can possibly eat. So I called and asked if she would like some.

A few days later, I dropped off a basket to her home.

It wasn't about okra.

It was about remembering that grief often lives in the smallest things—and that sometimes the smallest gestures matter most.

This is the human-centered world of finance that I wish more people got to experience.

My clients are not account numbers, transactions, or a means to an end. They are people with stories, families, joys, and heartaches.

They are my "why" and one of the greatest reasons I love what I do.

When you've worked with someone for years, you grow close to them. You learn about their children and grandchildren. You celebrate milestones, walk through challenges, hear about health struggles, and learn what brings them joy.

When a client passes away, there is a loss. We are human and grieve, too. That part is hard.

Attending a funeral recently reminded me how short and precious life is. It has a way of putting everything into perspective, such as the goals we're chasing, the worries that consume us, and the people who matter most.

One of the greatest privileges of this profession is being trusted to walk alongside people through many seasons of life. It's a responsibility I never take for granted.

One of the best parts of my job isn't spreadsheets, retirement projections, or investment reviews. It's hearing people tell me their dreams.

Recently, a client shared a dream she'd never told anyone before. Not her family. Not her friends. No one.

She wanted to travel around the world. Not just "take a vacation." A full around-the-world adventure.

Instead of telling her all the reasons it might not work, we focused on how it could. We built a plan. We made adjustments. We kept moving forward.

And she did it. ☺️

That's the thing about dreams—they often feel impossible until someone helps you break them into steps. No dream is too big. No goal is too small.

Whatever your version of "around the world" looks like, I'd love to help you build a plan for it. Sometimes all it takes is a plan, a little encouragement, and someone who believes it's possible.
