Expedition Credit Union provides financial services to Minnesota's education community & their families; those who live, work, worship, go to school or do business in Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey or Washington Counties; those who support education through membership in the
United Educators Foundation; as well as other select employee groups. We offer many of the same services as a bank, but we are very different. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, all profits are returned to members in the form of dividends and lower interest rates on loans. Expedition CU was established in 1957 to benefit Minnesota Education Association members. Originally named MEA Credit Union, we assisted with the specific financial needs of the education community. Throughout the years — from strikes and natural disasters, to times of prosperity — the credit union was there. The summer of 1998, the State's two teachers unions: the Minnesota Education Association and the Minnesota Federation of Teachers merged into one — Education Minnesota. Taking their lead, we petitioned the State Banking Department for a new charter, whereupon our field of membership changed to include all staff and members of the new organization. Without an "MEA" to serve, the name MEA Credit Union became obsolete. On January 1, 1999, we changed our name to United Educators Credit Union. As the credit union strengthened its relationship with Minnesota's educators, it looked for ways to spread the value of belonging and the importance of financial education to make wise decisions to more citizens. In May 2019, United Educators Credit Union was approved to serve those who live, work, worship, go to school, or do business in Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey or Washington Counties. The expanded service area will allow more people to join our credit union community and experience the many valuable benefits of belonging to our cooperative. To reflect our growing membership, break the perceived barriers that we are exclusive to educators only, and continue to grow in order to survive and thrive into the future, United Educators Credit Union made the decision to change its name to Expedition Credit Union. The change was only to the name. “Expedition” is a name as unique and distinctive as your credit union. We know it isn’t about the destination, but the journey and those you choose to take the journey with. Today, with over $230 million in assets and nearly 17,000 members, Expedition CU offers a full line of financial services, and currently operates branch locations in Apple Valley & C**n Rapids. Although the credit union has undergone many changes over the years, the strength, dedication and commitment we bring to the education community remains as it has been since 1957. We are proud to be the only credit union sponsored by Education Minnesota ESI and value the opportunity to serve educators and school personnel statewide. Locations:
