“Vishing” attempts by phone call, and “Phishing” attempts by email, are fraudulent practices conducted by those that claim to be from a reputable company, and they try to extract your personal information such as bank details and credit card numbers.
Fraudsters never stop, so it is important that our Members are vigilant and follow 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 to keep their information safe.
𝗙𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀
• Be suspicious of calls or emails with short payment timeframes, and/or include threatening action.
• Collect as much information, such as phone number calling you, time, date, etc.
• Do not share credit card or account numbers over the phone unless you initiated the call.
• Secure your accounts with strong and unique passwords, and multi-factor authentication.
• Choose security questions only you know the answers to.
• Report suspicious charges or transactions to your financial institution immediately.
• Hang up and call your financial institution directly to verify if the inquiry was legitimate. Go to the company website to obtain a legitimate phone number to ensure you are contacting the authentic business.
• Never give out personal details if a call or email is suspicious.
