Last night, we went over the tale of Israel’s first three kings: Saul, David, and Solomon. Each of these men were raised up to lead, yet their stories showed us that no earthly ruler can truly save.

Saul had the appearance of a king, but his heart faltered under the weight of pride and disobedience. David was a man after God’s own heart, yet he proved that even the greatest warriors are severely flawed. Solomon was gifted with wisdom and riches, but his divided loyalty left a kingdom fractured.

Each of these men were kings, but none of them were the promised King that scripture whispered about from the very beginning.

That true, long-awaited King is Jesus. He came with humility, mercy, and a kingdom that will never fail. While human kings fall short, Jesus stands eternal. Jesus, the King of kings and the fulfillment of the promise in scripture.

Fall Retreat 2026:
The world we live in is broken by sin. We are surrounded by things competing for our attention, worship, and praise. In the midst of temptation, trials, and tribulations, we are reminded through the book of Daniel that placing our faith in Christ is possible even in a fallen world.

Torn from his home and forced into Babylon, Daniel faced constant pressure to compromise his convictions. Yet, he resolved in his heart to remain faithful to God. This wasn’t accidental. Daniel didn’t just hope he’d stand strong when the moment arrived, but he resolved before the pressure ever came. His commitment was rooted in knowing the character of God, setting intentional boundaries, and being shaped daily by God’s word.

While Daniel’s story is a powerful example of what our faith in action should look like, it’s not the good news…
The good news is, Jesus, in perfect obedience to God was tempted in every way, but did not sin. Jesus, in his abundant love for us, went to the cross despising shame and bearing our guilt, so that we might live free from sin and be redeemed through relationship with the father. Jesus is our model for resolve and by his strength we may resolve too.

How will you remain faithful when obedience is costly?

Views from Joint Worship night! It’s always a blessing to worship alongside our Christian brothers and sisters around the academy.

Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.

Humanity rebels. God judges. God shows mercy. God keeps His promises.

Last night we traced the story from Cain to the Flood to Babel to Abraham to Jesus. Genesis 4–12 shows humanity spiraling further and further from God. Violence spreads. The world becomes corrupt. Judgment comes. The nations are scattered.

*But God never abandons His plan.*
He preserves Noah.
He makes a covenant.
He calls Abraham.
And He promises that through Abraham, all the nations of the earth will be blessed.
That promise ultimately has a name: Jesus!
The nations scattered at Babel are the nations Jesus sends His church to reach.

The Bible isn’t a collection of disconnected stories. It’s one story of a God who keeps His promises—and a story that leads to Jesus.

Yesterday we started a new series starting in Genesis, and our main goal is to understand the big picture of the Old Testament. This is important so that we may rightly understand who God is, and how we’re supposed to live. When we misunderstand God, we find ourselves wasting our time and effort on things that do not truly matter.

*God creates out of His joyful, glorious, and creative heart.
-Gen 1:31, Gen 2:7
-God spoke the cosmos into perfect completion, but He intimately formed humanity from the dirt and provided everything we need.
*God knows what you need and loves you.
-Gen 2:18
-God knew Adam’s lack and gave him Eve. You can completely trust Him with your desires, hopes, and pain.
*God gives good gifts, and boundaries
-Gen 2:16
-His commands do not come from stinginess. Boundaries protect us and exist for our good and His glory.
*God Himself is the only One who will satisfy the deepest longings of your soul.
-Psalm 34, “Taste and see that the LORD is GOOD.”
*The Enemy twists God’s words to make us doubt His goodness.
-Gen 3:1
-When we forget God’s words, the enemy tricks us into thinking God is holding out on us.
*We reject God through law-breaking and sneaky law-keeping.
-Gen 3:6
-We trade God for empty things, rejecting Him either through outright rebellion or by keeping Him at arm’s length through empty religious performance.
*God is merciful and covers our deepest shame.
-Gen 3:21
*God is patient beyond your wildest imagination.
-Matt 11:29
-Even if you repeat the same sin and feel dirty, remember that God delights in showing mercy, not destruction.
*Jesus is the promised hero who pays our debt and calms our chaos.
-Col 2:14: “...cancels the record of debt... nailing it to the cross.”

Jesus is the promised Son from Genesis 3:15 who came to crush the enemy’s head, justify the rebels, and undo all the effects of sin. God is the One who can actually speak peace into your chaos, not by promising health, wealth, and prosperity, but giving you the most precious thing in the universe which is HIMSELF!

At BCM last night, we asked…what is a disciple?

Jesus said, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” — Matthew 4:19

A disciple is someone who is:

* Following Jesus — Living Obediently
* Being changed by Jesus — Loving Sacrificially
* Joining the mission of Jesus — Leading Others to Jesus

Our ambition at BCM: disciples who make disciples.

Live obediently. Love sacrificially. Lead someone to Jesus. Make disciples who make disciples.

Until every room in Bancroft is affected by Jesus—and from there, to the ends of the earth.

All for the glory of God.
