One of my favorite things about living in Des Moines is that there’s always something fun happening—you just have to know where to look.

Tonight we went to Music in the Garden at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, and it was such a great evening. Live music, beautiful scenery, people relaxing with friends and family…it was one of those nights that reminds you how much our community has to offer.

I don’t think enough people know about events like this, so I thought I’d start sharing some of my favorite local experiences around the Des Moines area.

If you’ve never been, I’d definitely recommend adding this one to your summer list!

Some days in this business are challenging. You invest your heart into helping people through a process that can be exciting, stressful, and emotional all at the same time.

Then there are days like today.

A thank-you note like this reminds me that every phone call, every question answered, every late night, and every extra step matters. It’s never just about getting a loan approved—it’s about helping people feel confident, supported, and cared for during one of the biggest milestones in their lives.

Knowing I made a difference is exactly why I love being a mortgage lender. ❤️🥰

Hard hat ready! I had the opportunity to join the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce at its Construct Iowa Event yesterday! It was a unique opportunity to tour the 515 Walnut Tower. Which proved to be both enlightening and enjoyable. The event included a comprehensive project overview, a tour of a completed unit, and stunning views from the 33rd floor. Capped off with a social hour at Ricochet Lounge! Thanks to Aureon and Co-Sponsor Beal Derkenne Construction for providing a rare behind-the-scenes look at this development.

Despite the downpour, tech brew at Architectural Salvage this morning was incredibly well attended, and well worth a trip.

One of the highlights was hearing Brianne Schulte from Vermeer corporation speak about her career milestones, key initiatives and perspective on technology. Her message was simple, but powerful: AI and technology, our tools to support people, not a replacement for them.

Technology can help us work, smarter and more efficiently, but human connection, communication, creativity and collaboration, remain the heart of every successful business.

As someone who has built a career around relationships I appreciate that perspective. It’s one of the reasons I enjoy attending events like this – staying connected to the conversations, ideas, and people helping shape the future of our Des Moines community.
