🌾🚜Farm Week is off to a wonderful start at Miss Roxy’s Summer Day Camp! πŸ„πŸŒ±

Our preschoolers and toddlers enjoyed reading The Pie That Molly Grew and learning about how food grows from a tiny seed into something delicious we can eat. The children loved talking about fruits, vegetables, gardens, and all the hard work that goes into making a pie!

We were also excited to welcome Holman Colleen from the Indiana Farm Bureau again this year! She shared fun, hands-on lessons about farming and helped our little learners discover where their food comes from. Her visit was the perfect way to continue our Farm Week adventures!

One of the highlights of the day was learning all about bees and the important job they do helping plants grow. The kiddos were fascinated to discover how bees make honey and why they are so important to farms and gardens. They even got to taste real flavored honey, which was a sweet treat and a big hit with our little learners! 🍯🐝

This week at camp, we'll be exploring all things farm-related through stories, crafts, sensory activities, songs, and play. We can't wait to learn more about farm animals, crops, tractors, and the important role farmers play in our everyday lives.

A big thank you to Colleen for helping make our Farm Week so special for our campers! 🌾❀️🐷

PIZZA πŸ• My favorite Farm Bureau AG IN THE CLASSROOM LESSON.
Hendry Park and Carlin Park After-school BASE Camp Program provided by Steuben County Literacy Coalition. The children enjoyed making lunchable Pizza. They also learned about how the ingredients are grown or raised on the farm.
I provided a demonstration on how wheat was ground between two stones to make flour back in 1800 and earlier.
One question that was googled by a Trine student was, how much did flour cost in 1800? The answer was 2 - 4 cents a pound.
Each child received a coupon from Pizza Hut for a personal pan Pizza.
Leslie Waters and I will be at Ryan Park tomorrow.
No pictures from Ryan Park . The children always love the visit.
