The “hate my house, love my mortgage” syndrome is causing a big gap in the market right now. "Move-up buyers" (those that have outgrown their starter homes and want to level up) don’t want to give up their current mortgage rates, so they are staying put, even though their house doesn't suit their current needs.

The "hate my house, love my mortgage" syndrome is spreading fast, stemming from mortgage interest rates in the 3% range more than doubling over the past year.
