Back in 2009, I worked with a customer to get their home refinanced to consolidate debts. On this particular loan there were serious hurdles. Local banks and credit unions were not willing to go the extra mile to overcome. After I met with both borrowers, I realized that their family situation mandated immediate and special attention. Knowing that it would be a long battle did not deter our resolve. The home was a lower valued property and had some title issues. However, seeing the long term benefit for the couple was my sole focus. In a matter of three short weeks, we were able to overcome objections and reach final loan approval. At the attorney’s office I learned that the benefits from this loan closing were the key to their hopes and dreams of staying in South Carolina with their children. Doing the right thing is a simple choice, and in this case it worked out great for all parties! Turns out that the employer of one of my borrowers needed a new lending connection, and as a result we developed one of my largest and longest lasting referral partnerships.
