IOWA SPECIAL MINOR'S RESTRICTED LICENSE

This license allows you to drive without adult supervision in the hour before and after the beginning and ending of the following:

Drive from your home to your school(s) of enrollment for class or school sponsored activities using the most direct and accessible route. Public school students are limited to driving within the school district of enrollment and accredited nonpublic school students and students that are home-schooled are limited to driving within a 25-mile driving distance.

Drive to participate in school-sponsored extracurricular activities using the most direct and accessible route. Activities must be held at a location within a 25-mile driving distance.

Drive for work. The driving distance between the origin and destination must be 25 miles or less.

Drive to complete farm work to assist your parents, guardians, or employers in connection with any farm employment or farm-related work using the most direct and accessible route, if you live on or are employed by a farm in Iowa. The driving distance between the origin and destination must be 25 miles or less.

Stop for fuel while on route or at the closest filling station off route.

You may also drive at any time with adult supervision. Adult supervision means your parent, guardian, custodian, an immediate family member at least 21 years of age, a driver education instructor, or a person at least 25 years of age with written permission from your parent, guardian, or custodian. The supervising adult must possess a valid driver’s license.

A special minor restricted license is an optional step that allows you to drive independently to school or work with some restrictions in Iowa.

It is more important now than it has ever been that you are opening your mail and taking the time to read notices from your insurance carriers. The market is changing rapidly and carriers are making dramatic changes in policy coverages. Policy deductibles are increasing, limited loss settlements are being implemented, per building deductibles are starting to be introduced as well as many other changes.
Many carriers are now requiring proof of age/type of roof. If you are purchasing a new to you home, be sure to get this documentation from the seller. If you are a current homeowner, retain this information and share it with your agent so they can properly note your account.

For some perspective: In the US, in 2024, there were 27 seperate weather & climate related disasters with losses over $1 billion dollars with a combined total of $182.7 billion in cost. And this number is rising as more claims are being settled.

If you own or operate an off-highway vehicle (ATV/UTV) in Jones County, are you aware of the county ordinance?

Key points:
* Must be 18 years old with a valid license to operate on public roadway (16 if you have completed the Iowa DNR approved ATV safety course)
* Rate of speed not to exceed 35 mph on any public roadway
* Liability insurance with a minimum limit of $500,000 for bodily injury and $100,000 for property damage

It is Pumpkinfest week in Anamosa!

Main street will be closed from 6am-6pm Saturday October 5th.

Please be sure to use extra caution while trying to get around town. Vendors will be coming in to set up, parade floats will be lining up and thousands of visitors will be scurrying through the streets.

The forecast is calling for sunshine and hopefully some broken records!
