We all want to have the security of knowing our family is prepared for the future.
Should you consider purchasing a long-term care insurance policy?
If you’re planning your retirement, you’re probably looking forward to spending time with family and focusing more on your hobbies. But you also need to consider your care needs as you continue to age.
What does long-term insurance cover?
Typically, health insurance does not cover services that help you with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating and staying mobile.
Long-term care insurance can help cover such costs, whether you are receiving care at home or in an assisted-living facility. As you age, it is important to understand how to maximize your health insurance and any supplemental benefits.
How much does it cost?
Long-term care insurance premiums can vary significantly based on factors like age, overall health and type of coverage.
Is long-term care insurance right for you? Consider your plans for the future and your family’s needs. If you want to discuss your options, we’re here to help.

When was the last time you saw an eye doctor? Are you due for a visit?
Maintaining healthy vision is an important part of your overall quality of life. While not everyone needs to see an optometrist every year, it’s a good idea to check in with a doctor regularly, especially once you reach a certain age or if you’ve had any issues in the past.
Here’s what to know about taking good care of your vision.
-Maintain a healthy lifestyle
-Use protective eyewear (like sunglasses or also in situations that could lead to an eye injury, such as woodworking)
-Understand your risk factors (Do you have a family history of eye problems?)
-Visiting the Eye Doctor as recommended per your age and eye health

Understanding Vision Insurance
Vision insurance helps offset the cost of basic eye care. Typical coverage may not pay for everything, but it can help cover regular eye exams, contacts and frames.

Open enrollment has begun, which means it’s time to choose your health insurance for 2021.

Did your health or finances change this year? Even if they didn’t, it’s a good idea to examine your options and identify your needs. (You might even be able to save some money.)

Let’s make sure you have the right coverage for next year.

When is open enrollment?

Open enrollment for 2021 health insurance coverage began Nov. 1 and runs for the next few weeks.

For Medicare Advantage plans and Part D prescription coverage, annual open enrollment runs from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7.

Make sure you’ll be covered next year by heeding these deadlines or your employer’s, which may be different.

Should you re-enroll in the same plan?

Do you like the coverage you’ve had in 2020? Before you re-enroll, check these things:

How 2021 premiums, deductibles and coinsurance or copays will compare to 2020
Whether your doctors will still be in network
Whether the plan will still cover your prescriptions
Whether your prescriptions will be the same price
What information should you gather?

Collect any documents that could inform your decision about which plans offer you the best value. These documents might include the following:

Records of your out-of-pocket medical expenses for 2020
An estimate of your expected household income if you’re applying for a Marketplace plan
Information about coverage available through your employer
Annual Notice of Change if you have a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan
Choosing the right plan is an important way to help you and your family stay on track, especially during uncertain times.

Reach out today if you have questions or if you’re ready to get started on selecting coverage.

Mental Health and Medicare

Did you know that Medicare helps you take care of your mental health?

Depression or anxiety is something that can happen to anyone, especially during this pandemic. It is very important to take care of your mental health, to help your overall health.

You want to talk to your doctor if you have:
-Suicidal thoughts
-If you feel empty, hopeless, beyond sad
-If it's hard to accomplish even the smallest task, because it takes a lot out of you to do it
-If you have a hard time concentrating
-If your depression or anxiety is affecting your eating habits (i.e. binge eating or loss of appetite)
-Lost interest in your everyday activities
-Increased use of alcohol to copy with your day, or use of drugs
-Feeling useless
-You are isolating yourself from friends and family

With Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) you have help paying for mental health services, when you’re an inpatient in a general or psychiatric hospital. With Medicare Part A, your room, meals, nursing care, therapy and anything related to your conditions until you are inpatient. If you’re in a psychiatric hospital Part A pays for up to 190 days of services during your lifetime.

With Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) you have help paying for mental health visits and services you generally get outside of a hospital.
Here is a more detailed list of what Part B covers:

-One depression screening per year
-Individual and group psychotherapy
-Family counseling, only if it is to help with your treatment
-Related lab and diagnostic tests
-Psychiatric evaluations
-Medication management
-Specifics prescription drugs
-Partial hospitalization
-One alcohol misuse screening per year for adults
-Telehealth services from home

With Medicare Part D ( Prescription Drug Coverage) you get help paying for prescription drugs you may need as a treatment.
Also keep in mind that if you have a limited income you may qualify for additional help from Medicare.

Did you know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month?

On October you will notice all around you a campaign to support awareness about this disease but also a promotion of shops that supports Breast Cancer Awareness and Cure. Right now 1 in 8 women is diagnosed with breast cancer.
It is very important to remind all women to work on prevention .

One thing that women should do periodically is to get a mammogram.

A mammogram is considered the best way to find breast cancer early, which makes it easier to treat, and sometimes it helps catch it before it is even big enough to feel it or experience any signs or symptoms.

It must be said that some people reported to have zero symptoms.

Some of the signs and symptoms to look for :

Your breast shape can change in shape and/or size You may feel pain in your breast Sometimes there may be discharge You may feel a lump. This can be in any area of your breast and/or your armpits.

To help women reduce their risk of breast cancer doctors suggest:

1-Keep a healthy weight and exercise regularly 2-Don’t drink alcohol, or limit the amount you drink
3-If you are taking hormone replacement therapy or birth control pills, ask your doctor about the risks
4-Breastfeed your children, if possible.

Are you worried about the cost?

Talk to your doctor about preventing screening. CDC’s National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) provides breast and cervical cancer screenings and diagnostic services to low-income, uninsured, and underinsured women across the United States.

If you need help understanding what your health insurance provides you, we are happy to help you understand it.

Get in touch, don't delay!
