We’ve heard about the looming Social Security financial problem for decades. The PROMISE Act (Protecting Retirement Opportunities and Maintaining Income Security for Everyone Act of 2026) is an attempt to force Washington to deal with the problem.

Current projections indicate that without congressional action, Social Security will eventually reach the point where the program’s incoming payroll taxes will no longer be sufficient to pay 100% of scheduled benefits. This could significantly affect millions of retirees.

Although the PROMISE Act is not the Social Security solution, it creates a process to find one.
