It's about understanding what you have in place and feeling confident in how it fits your needs.

Just a reminder to my family, friends, and community: knowing what you have when it comes to your insurance really matters.

None of us wants to think about something going wrong, but claims do happen. When they do, the last thing you want is to be caught off guard by what is or isn’t covered. A simple conversation now can make a big difference later.

I have these conversations every day with people who often start out as strangers and quickly become friends. But honestly, I’ve realized I sometimes hesitate to start those same conversations with the people I already know and care about most. That’s something I’m working on, because protecting the people in my life matters to me.

If I reach out, it’s never to be pushy or salesy. That’s not my style and never will be. It’s simply because I care and want the people around me to feel informed, confident, and protected.

A few important questions to think about:

Do you know what coverage you currently have on your auto policy?

Do you know how your home and belongings are covered?

Do you have life insurance in place that you personally own?

Have you looked into disability protection?

Over the last couple of weeks alone, major companies have announced big cuts to employee benefits, including life and disability offerings. If you think you have coverage through work, it’s a good time to double-check exactly what you have.

If I can help, or if you’d just like another opinion, I’d be happy to have a conversation.

PLEASE understand the difference between a paid ad and a factual news article.

PLEASE help your parents, grandparents and relatives understand the difference between a paid ad and a factual news article.

Here are some headlines I get calls about almost daily from people who believe what they see because it wase on the internet...

Common misleading auto insurance ad headlines:

“New York drivers could be overpaying by $500+ a year”
Usually a comparison-site ad designed to get quote leads, not a news story.

“Drivers who haven’t checked rates in 6 months may be missing out”
Meant to create urgency. It’s typically sponsored content pushing people into quote funnels.

“If you drive under 50 miles a day, you may qualify for a lower rate”
Often a broad teaser that gets people to click before revealing it’s an ad.

“The trick New York drivers are using to cut their premium”
“Trick” headlines are a big red flag. These are usually advertorials or affiliate pages.

“People in Altamont are switching after seeing these rates”
Hyper-local language is often used to make the ad feel like neighborhood news.

Look for labels like these to tell if it's really a paid ad:

I AM POSTING THIS BECAUSE TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY THIS TYPE OF ADVERTISING AND NOT KNOWING THE DIFFERENCE -- ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ARE 65+

Our office will be closing at 2pm Friday, May 22nd and will reopen Tuesday, May 26th

Please take a moment this weekend to remember all those who have given their lives for our freedom. 🇺🇸

The group chat makes the plans happen—lake days, rides, weekends away. ☀️
Before you know it, there's a lot more in the mix than there was last year.

With everything that gets added along the way, it may be worth taking a moment to look at how it's all covered. Some items may be included, while others may be handled differently.

A quick review can help you understand what you have in place so you can get back to enjoying it.

Call or text when you're ready.

I was honored to have the opportunity to portray Mrs. Catharine Bancker Van Aernam in our annual Altamont Memorial Day celebration!

The Van Aernam family were locals who were part of the American Revolution. Walking the same streets as Catharine with 250 years between us was definitely a surreal feeling.

I am honored to be part of our 250th celebration. Thank you to Historic Altamont and everyone who had a part in bringing the Van Aernam Family to life!

Thank you Paul D. Tonko for always supporting Altamont!
