New beginnings don’t always look the way you imagined.
Two years ago, Hurricane Helene destroyed our slice of paradise in St. Pete.
Until recently, we were forced to carry two mortgages on two home - one which had been destroyed.
The monthly cash flow was challenging. And the impact wasn't just financial. There is a mental weight that comes with significant fixed monthly obligations. You think about it when you're making business decisions planning ahead. It felt tight.
A few months ago, we sold the property and thanks to higher interest rates, we decided to pay down the mortgages. It was simply a math problem.
As a financial advisor for the past 28 years, our team starts every financial plan reviewing Net Worth for our clients - assets minus liabilities.
The numbers matter, but so does what those numbers do to your mindset. It would have been easy to put those $ into the asset column instead of paying down the liabilities. But doing so, created breathing room. It created mental freedom.
Two years later, we’re moving forward — with fewer liabilities, healthier cash flow, a different perspective, and a renewed appreciation for what truly matters.
The storm changed our plans. It didn’t get to define our future.
Here’s to new beginnings and fresh perspective.
