I was asked a question earlier this week: Is the Medicare Part D “subsidy” is going away in 2027? Here’s what’s happening.

There are a lot of headlines floating around right now — and unfortunately, some make it sound like Medicare is suddenly taking away everyone’s prescription drug assistance.

That’s not exactly what’s happening.

In 2025, Medicare started a temporary Part D Premium Stabilization Demonstration for stand-alone prescription drug plans.

Why?

Because major changes were being made to Medicare Part D, including shifting more financial responsibility for prescription drug costs to the insurance companies.
Medicare wanted to help prevent dramatic premium increases while insurers adjusted to the new system.

📅 For 2027, CMS has announced that this temporary subsidy will end.

Remember the plan that worked for you in 2026 may not be the best fit in 2027.

🚨 New Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program Starts July 1

Turning 65 soon and wondering what to do about Medicare and Social Security?
