MCO input prices discovered in April show higher spring harvest prices for several major inputs, including urea, DAP, potash, and diesel. Natural gas was the one listed input that came in lower than the fall projected price.

If you're looking for a FULL PACKAGE option to protect yourself from Declining Corn & Soybean Prices, Lower County Yields, and/or Rising Input Costs such as diesel, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and interest - than this could be a good option for you.

Margin Protection offers coverage for unforeseen drops in operating margin, calculated as revenue minus input costs. This program is based on county-level data from the RMA Actuarials, using average revenue and input costs to determine coverage amounts and indemnity payments. Find your Expected Yield, Expected Price and Expected Costs for your county here: https://webapp.rma.usda.gov/apps/ActuarialInformationBrowser/Default.aspx

Payments may be issued when the Harvest Margin for the county falls below the Trigger Margin, which can happen due to reduced revenue or increased input costs. Margin Protection will cover a part of that deficit.
