🏠 Ownership vs. Obligation

For many people, paying off a home represents freedom — no more bank, no more debt, just something that’s truly theirs.

That’s why ongoing property taxes can feel frustrating. The idea that a home can be fully paid off, yet still carry yearly costs — with potential consequences if unpaid — raises valid questions about what “ownership” really means.

At the same time, property taxes help fund services closely tied to that home:
• Local schools
• Roads and infrastructure
• Fire and emergency services
• Community upkeep

The issue isn’t simple — it’s a balance between:
ownership rights 🆚 shared community responsibility

Many people aren’t calling for the elimination of taxes, but rather asking:
• Should there be caps for seniors?
• Should long-term homeowners receive relief?
• Is there a fairer way to fund local services?

Ultimately, it’s less about rejecting the system — and more about ensuring it feels fair to those who have already invested so much.
