Congratulations Illinois OSFM Small Equipment Grant recipients!

Bridgeport Fire Protection District Awarded $26,000
Lawrence Allison Fire Protection District Awarded $25,968.46
City of Mount Carmel Fire Department $25,977.44

GWRPC was pleased to assist in securing the OSFM funding in our region. The program was established to provide grants of up to $26,000 each for the purchase of small firefighting and ambulance equipment.

Congratulations Village of Oblong! Governor Pritzker and IDOT has announced awards for the Safe Routes To School Program. Oblong was awarded $250,000 for approximately 1,500 feet of sidewalk improvements along Missouri Street, bounded on the east by Range Street and on the west by Jefferson Street. This will impact both Oblong Elementary and Oblong High School. GWRPC was pleased to assist in securing the funding for the health and safety of children walking to school.

Purpose of Workshop:
1. Provide an overview of the Comprehensive Safety Action Plan and the Safe System Approach.
2. Review Greater Wabash Region CSAP development process and timeline.
3. Present preliminary data analysis and determine safety focus areas.
4. Provide feedback on CSAP Mission and Vision Statements and Goal for Resolution.
5. Determine traffic fatality and serious injury goal based on trend line and ultimate goal of zero traffic Fatalities and Serious Injury crashes.
6. Learn about safety concerns, challenges, and successes in the Greater Wabash Region.
7. Discuss next steps.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for writing and overseeing the assembling of all community development grant applications. Works closely with municipalities, county governmental systems, and awarding organizations to assure compliance with all details required by the granting organization. Responsible for managing all community development grants as assigned by the Executive Director. May also function as representative of and/or assistant to Executive Director as assigned.

Must be proficient in MS Office Applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, among others. Prefer a Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Planning, Geography, or related field. Experience in working with governmental agencies or other regulatory bodies and demonstrated ability in complying with regulations strongly preferred. Should demonstrate exceptional language art skills. Must be able to work under time constraints. Must be highly organized. Must have computer skills. Must have reliable transportation.

The GWRPC Board of Directors elected officers for 2026 at the board meeting on Thursday, March 19th. Executive Director Angela Peyton is pleased to announce all four current officers were reappointed for an additional one-year term. Rob Anniss, of Richland County, will continue as Commission Chairman; David Savage, of Wayne County, will continue serving as Vice-Chairman; Scott Merkle, of Wayne County, will continue as Secretary; and Randy Hallam, of Edwards County, will continue serving as Commission Treasurer. The GWRPC Board of Directors hosts members from all seven counties the Commission serves and oversees Commission activities.
