Capital District Fly Fishers The Capital District Fly Fishers is a fellowship of anglers formed to promote the sport of Fly Fishing for all fish, in all types of water.

We had a great trip to the Delaware River. The conditions were not favorable due to the drop in water flow, but we made the most of it. Much time was spent talking about a better approach for the lower water and what specific techniques to use. There were 12 club members who joined us on the trip. We spent time socializing and sharing fish stories and getting to know everyone. These trips are what the club is all about - fishing, socializing, learning, and being out in nature. Fly Tier’s Corner @ 6:30 – Ron Dingman will be tying flies for the Northern Brown Bonefish (Cyprinus carpia), with a salty pedigree. Several styles of weed/snag guards will be demonstrated, as well as different methods of adding weight.

A couple CDFF members ventured out to Lake Champlain and fished with Drew Price from Masterclas Angling for Carp and Bowfin. The carp were not cooperative but Rick got into his first Bowfin! Might be a good spot for a future club trip.

Here's what not to do with a big fish that you can't quite grab and pull to shore. Was a little impatient with this fish and tried to just pull him to shore, however the knot didn't hold. Will make sure to bring a net next time!

Another CDFF Cape Cod trip in the books! The fishing was not good this year. We fished hard the entire time but there were simply not many fish around. That's the risk with fishing the ocean! Nevertheless, we all had a good time. Our group has grown over the years and we are up to 16. That's an impressive amount of fly fishers getting together. We had some newcomers to striper fishing and they were some of the lucky few who landed a striper! Looking forward to many more years of fly fishing adventures.......Fish On!
