Worried a house won't be eligible for FHA? Don’t fear the appraiser!
Here are some common, easy fixes, that might come up on an FHA appraisal:
• Handrails on all steps interior and exterior
• Broken/cracked windows
• Rotted woodwork, for example: window frames, trim, soffits, decking, stairs, doors, garage doors etc.
• Chipping peeling paint or unpainted untreated exterior or interior surfaces
• Adequate access to attic spaces, crawl space and basement.
• Smoke/carbon monoxide detectors must be installed in all bedrooms.
• Missing outlet covers
• Loose wiring and exposed wires
• Hot water heater pressure relief valve with copper pipe attached
• Standing water in the basement
• Evidence of mold.
• Missing siding
• Utilities on and functioning
