Health Insurance Tips

Question: What's the difference between Medically Underwritten Plans vs Non-Underwritten Plans?

Answer: If the plan is Medically Underwritten UPFRONT and you are accepted, then anything disclosed on the application will be covered.

If there is no Underwriting during the application process then you are risking the insurance company not covering a claim after the fact. Instead, they will try to find a way out of paying the claims by looking into your medical history and attaching the cause to a pre-existing condition. Since they do not cover pre-existing conditions, the claim will not be covered.

For example, if you take any medications for High Blood Pressure and you have something happen to you while on a non-Underwritten plan, they will not cover any issues with your heart and could link other ailments to the High Blood Pressure.

Your safest bet is to see if you can qualify for a medically underwritten plan first.
