What's one of your favorite desserts to make or eat??

Fun fact: before switching careers, I used to be a pastry chef! Well, I happened to have some extra heavy whipping cream leftover from a cream sauce I made the other day; so I decided to make chocolate mousse today.

If you don't have a W9 for your contractors, the IRS will require you to withhold a flate rate of 24% of that payment, so the contractors are forced to file a tax return. Stay out of trouble and ALWAYS have them fill out a W9 BEFORE you pay them. I always ask when the contract is signed, to get a W-9 so I'm not waiting until the last minute.

They are both fun activities to do in the fall. I'd lean towards the pumpkin patch because they usually also have giant corn mazes and hay rides!

We live in a society where productivity = success.

How many clients we have and how much revenue we bring in seem to be the foundational tools by which we measure how “well” our business is doing.

The damage in this mindset is it traps you on this hamster wheel of production and makes you miss the ways in which you are successful right now.

I challenge you to push against this way of thinking and change how you measure achievements.

Sit down and ask yourself in what non monetary ways do I define success?

Is it being able to have enough revenue where you can take Fridays off to spend with your family or take a nice vacation every year? Or is success curating a list of clients that are a joy to serve with that fill your cup every day at work?

Until you reframe the way you define success you will always be in a rat race against yourself to be better when the reality is you are good enough right now.

What is a trial balance?

A trial balance is an accounting report that lists the balances of all the ledger accounts of a business at a specific date.

This is just one of many reports a CPA may ask for when it comes time for tax prep.

This report and other reports a bookkeeper working on your books can provide for you. If you are doing your own bookkeeping, make sure you know how to generate these reports within your accounting software!

This is fitting after seeing my family for the past week. I was happy to have them here. The next time we will get to see them won't be until Christmas. You can't always choose your family, and you don't always have to love them. But if you have a good one, cherish them!

🎉🎊 Happy Fun Friday: Party Edition! 🎊🎉

Who doesn't love a good reason to party? This weekend we are celebrating my baby girl turning O-N-E. Ahhh.

She is my why. She is the reason I went into business for myself. I wanted to be able to work while still being there for her. There was a lot of late nights and long days, but we did it!

What is your "why"? What's stopping you from doing what you want?

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the dreaded black hole that is the email inbox?

I recently read an article that resonated with me around how to address emails.

One that really stuck with me was to “Deal With Your Messages!” We should never just be checking emails. If we look, we must address the message. They advised “batch answering” emails by having scheduled times twice daily to check and deal with emails, which I think is genius! It reduces the feeling of drowning in a sea of messages and also creates consistency and shows integrity in responding to our clients!

Happy deleting those 6,000+ emails you have just hanging in email limbo.
