You are not a bank. You are not a financing company. And you did not agree to fund your client’s business while your own bills wait.

Set clear payment terms. Require automatic payments. Follow up immediately. Stop feeling guilty for collecting money.

Revenue does not pay the bills when it is sitting on somebody else’s to-do list.

Be still.

It’s only two little words but it is one of hardest to do many times.

Being still requires faith.

It’s not reacting when you want to. It’s waiting for the answer instead of trying to figure it out yourself.

I have several reminders in my office and home to be still. Why? I’m an action taker and always have been. Being still is super hard for me. I want to problem solve and move forward. Many times that is fine but sometimes I need to be still and wait.

Being still is hard when you can’t see God’s plan. When the season is hard. When God is working but you can’t see it.

Being still means you don’t need to try to solve every problem. Some problems are God’s to solve.

Being still is not forcing the outcome.

Today, is there something that you have been fearing or fretting over. Simply be still. He knows all about it.

A growing business can bring in plenty of money and still leave the owner wondering why there is never enough cash. 💰

That is what happens when revenue grows without a plan for pricing, expenses, profit, cash flow, and owner pay.💵

More money coming in only helps when you know where it needs to go.

If your revenue looks impressive but your bank account tells a different story, it is time to stop chasing sales and start managing the business behind them.

You are not too busy to look at your numbers. You are avoiding what they might confirm.

Maybe the business is not as profitable as you thought.

Maybe you cannot afford that new hire.

Maybe your pricing is too low.

Maybe your spending is too high.

Maybe that big revenue number is not leaving much behind.

Avoiding the numbers allows you to keep believing whatever story feels most comfortable. But your bank account, profit and loss statement, and unpaid bills already know the truth.

Financial clarity may be uncomfortable, but financial chaos is expensive.

Look at the numbers. Face what is real. Then make the decisions your business actually needs.

Share this with a business owner who keeps saying they are too busy to look at their numbers. And if that’s you, share it to your story because somebody else probably needs this reminder too. 🔥

**Myth: “I’ll hire a CFO when I’m bigger.”**

Truth: By the time you feel “big enough,” you’ve likely already made expensive decisions without the visibility to catch them. Bad hires. Underpriced services. Cash flow surprises that could’ve been avoided.

A CFO isn’t the reward for getting big. It’s how you get there without the guesswork.

**Myth: “My bookkeeper handles my finances.”**

Truth: A bookkeeper tells you what already happened. A CFO helps you decide what happens next. Both matter. Only one drives growth.

**Myth: “If I’m profitable, I don’t need financial strategy.”**

Truth: Profit on paper and cash in the bank are two different conversations. Growing revenue can actually create more financial stress, not less, if the strategy doesn’t grow with it.

You don’t need to wait until it breaks. You need clarity before it does.

One of the hardest lessons I’ve learned as a business owner is this:

Not everyone will handle your kindness well.

Some people see kindness as generosity.
Others see it as an opportunity.

I’ve had people mistake patience for weakness.
They’ve mistaken grace for permission.
They’ve mistaken flexibility for a lack of boundaries.

I’ve seen it in business.
I’ve seen it in friendships.
I’ve seen it with employees.
I’ve seen it with clients.

When someone is willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, offer flexibility when life happens, invest in your growth, or extend trust before you’ve earned it, don’t take advantage of that.

Because eventually, even the kindest people will stop extending kindness when they are being used.

Being a good leader doesn’t mean allowing people to disrespect your time, your business, or your values.

It means setting expectations.
Holding people accountable.
Having difficult conversations.
And protecting the culture you’ve worked so hard to build.

I’ve learned that kindness and boundaries aren’t opposites. They work together.

I can care about people and still expect excellence.
I can show grace and still hold someone accountable.
I can help people without allowing them to continually take more than they’re willing to give.

The people who truly value you won’t resent your boundaries.

They’ll respect them.

And those are the people worth building a life and a business with.

What’s one boundary that changed your life or your business?
