Scammers can sound convincing — especially when they say you’ve “won” something.

Recently, a member came in after being told they were speaking with Publishers Clearinghouse on FaceTime. The caller had their camera off and instructed them to go into the credit union.

That’s a red flag.

Before you send money, share personal information, buy gift cards, or follow instructions from someone claiming you won a prize — pause and call us first.

A real prize company will not ask you to pay fees, move money, or visit your financial institution to claim winnings.

When something feels off, River Valley is here to help you talk it through.
