Many homeowners policies only cover jewelry up to a limited amount (often $1,000 to $2,500 total) and that coverage is blanket coverage, meaning the total value which you can be reimbursed in the event of a loss. Additionally, jewelry is many times only covered for certain events like theft. That means if a piece is lost or damaged, it may not be covered at all.
