Good information! We get asked about this all the time.

Most people know they need to call the police after a car accident. But sometimes the other party will ask you NOT to call the police. When that happens, you should be suspicious.

There is usually a good reason why someone wants to avoid calling the police, and no matter how hard they try, it’s important that you insist on doing the right thing.

There are lots of reasons why someone wouldn’t want you to call the cops:
- They don’t have a valid driver’s license
- They don’t have car insurance
- They have warrants against them
- They’re not supposed to be driving the car
- They could be in a stolen vehicle
- Maybe they are in the middle of committing a crime
-They are drunk or under the influence of drugs

If the police don’t come to the scene, you’ll never be able to prove these things. However, if the police do come, you may have proof of the other party’s negligence.
