🚨 **SCAM ALERT: Please share this with your friends and family.**

We’ve learned of a scam currently targeting people in our community.

The caller claims to be with the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office and says you missed federal jury duty and now have a warrant. They may tell you there is a “gag order” and that you cannot tell anyone what is happening. Then they demand a large amount of cash to make the problem go away.

**Please don’t fall for it.**

No legitimate law enforcement agency will call and demand thousands of dollars in cash to avoid arrest. And anyone telling you that you can’t talk to your family, your credit union, or someone you trust is trying to keep you from discovering the scam.

If you receive a call like this, hang up. Don’t send money. Don’t withdraw cash. Contact law enforcement directly using a number you know is legitimate.

And if something doesn’t feel right, call HopeSouth before you act. We would much rather have a conversation with you before money leaves your account than after.

**Look out for yourself. Look out for your neighbors. And please share this warning.**
