In June 2023 following the creation of the IFRS disclosure standards, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) released IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 to offer standards upon which organizations can report and be measured on sustainability and green governance.

On October 16th, 2024, several leaders, governments and other stakeholders including international organizations, financial institutions and the private sector made commitments at Cop29 in Baku, the Republic of Azerbaijan enhancing efforts and targets crucial in the fight against climate change providing a base for all organizations to measure and assess their actions on sustainability and green governance.

In Uganda, it is becoming inevitable that companies become deliberate on sustainability and green governance in light of global commitments. Our Ziria Nabukalu and Hilda Sarah Kawala in our latest publication on Sustainability and Green Governance offer insights on trends on sustainability and green governance reporting offering justification why every strategic company leadership ought to pay keen attention to these requirements.
